Sam Walker and Gavin Royce of the DJ duo Walker & Royce are not amateurs, by any meaning of the word.
They have played at Output, Marquee, Le Bain, and Cielo in New York City; Audio and Monarch in San Francisco; Primary in Chicago; Electric Pickle and Mansion in Miami; The Edge in Brazil; La Santanera in Playa del Carmen; Bar Americas in Guadalajara; Static, The Egg, and Ministry of Sound in London; Watergate in Berlin; Love Life in San Diego; U Street Music Hall in DC, and more clubs in the cities of Houston, Dallas, and Austin. The Gottwood and Lost Village fesetivals were highlights of their recent European tour.
They've released on Crosstown Rebels, Dither Down, Moda Black, Pets Recordings, Nurvous Records, Safer at Night, Mothlab Recordings, and more. Their sets are technically superior, a long string of infectiously fun House songs that seem to celebrate the foolish fact of being young and human. Artists of the caliber of Eats Everything, Damian Lazarus and Sasha have played their tracks. They certainly work hard enough – this is their full-time job, and Walker is notorious for holing himself up in his studio for weeks at a time, emerging bleary-eyed with even more musical gold in his hands.
Given all these accomplishments, you would think they would be sitting on piles of money from DJ gigs and selling out NYC venues. Not so, at least yet. Read More
